Indo-Canadian television programming pioneer for more than two decades. He produced his first Punjabi tele-feature
WATNO DUR (Away From Home) in 1986, which was the first
Punjabi film to be produced in Canada.
Bobby Nagra followed that up with
ADHURE KHAWAB (Unrealized Dreams) and
PARDESAN (Foreigner). In the early 1990s, he produced the first national Punjabi half hour program called
Des Pardes (Home and Abroad). In the mid 1990s - he took a youngster named
Jaswinder Bains and made him into Jazzy B. - who has since become an international
Bhangra superstar. Nagra managed every aspect of Bains career from album lyrics and music video concepts. In 1998 - he served as co-producer on
Planet Aaj - South Asian Showcase, which appeared on the CTV network Applause series on their affiliate station in Vancouver. He has been regarded in
Indo-Canadian/Punjabi entertainment circles as pioneer.
